When a nest becomes wet and dirty or the young stop growing as expected, bacterial diarrhoea may be putting the brood at risk. During the first days of life, acting quickly is especially important, but administering products directly to fragile nestlings is not always easy.
Pantex Dr. Coutteel Starter Mix offers a practical solution: it is mixed into the parents’ drinking water, allowing you to support the young through this critical stage without administering the product to each nestling individually.
INDICATIONS
• Prevention of nest mortality during the first week of life in canaries and finches.
• Bacterial infections causing diarrhoea in canaries, finches, small psittacines and pigeons.
SIGNS THAT MAY ALERT YOU
• Wet or unusually dirty nests.
• Watery droppings or bacterial diarrhoea.
• Droppings that are no longer enclosed in their usual membrane.
• Wet feathers around the hen’s lower body.
• Young birds that stop growing, lose strength or become less active.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Dosage: mix 4 g, equivalent to 1 measuring spoon, with 1 litre of drinking water.
Preventive use: for the prevention of nest mortality in canaries and finches, begin on the day the young hatch and administer daily throughout their first week of life.
Use when symptoms appear: administer for 7 consecutive days when bacterial diarrhoea is present.
Prepare fresh drinking water every day and offer it as the birds’ only source of drinking water.
The prepared water can also be used to moisten soft food or egg food.
